Michael Tran, managing director of Global Energy Strategy with RBC Capital Markets tells BNN Bloomberg that investors often conflate price with duration and that despite oil prices doubling in the past year, this is the early stages of a bull oil cycle.

The problem with this casion style stock market fuelled by social media is that "profit" is not a determinant of a company's stock price. An example is Rivian who hasn't sold a single truck and may never be profitable from an accounting perspective that is valued by the "market" at more than 100 billion dollars as we speak. Sentiment and emotions is what drive this ...more

Couldn't agree more. To add to that I believe oil companies should start diversifying and be leaders in new energy solutions to the coming energy crisis, because of the under investment in new oil supply a energy crisis is going to happen.Those that have invested in CVE are all contrarian investors to some degree, seeing value where the market doesn't.  My thoughts are that the ...more
