Country Risk

In regards to country risk, CXB has permitted a mine in as little as 30 days in Nicaragua. In the US here are the permits needed to open CXB's Golden Eagle mine in Washington State where 2 million oz or more of gold are estimated.  Which has the greatest country risk of opening a successful mine and how long (if ever) would it take to permit a completely new mine in Washington State?

To open a mine in Washington state, several state and federal permits are generally required:

State Permits

  1. Surface Mining Reclamation Permit: Issued by the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR), this permit ensures proper reclamation of the mine site after mining activities1.
  2. State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Review: Local governments must approve the mine site and its subsequent use, following SEPA rules1.
  3. Hydraulic Project Approval (HPA): Required for mineral prospecting and placer mining activities in or near water, issued by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW)2.
  4. Water Rights Permits: If the mining operation involves the use of water, permits from the Washington State Department of Ecology may be necessary2.
  5. Local Permits: Additional permits from county or municipal authorities may be required, depending on the location and specific activities of the mine1.

Federal Permits

  1. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Review: Federal agencies must evaluate the environmental impacts of the proposed mining project.
  2. Clean Water Act Section 404 Permit: Issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for discharges of dredged or fill material into waters of the United States.
  3. National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit: Issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for discharges of pollutants into waters of the United States2.

These permits ensure that mining activities comply with environmental regulations and land use plans.

Sounds like years to get it up and operational. Do you think the Nicaraguan families with kids could wait that long to feed their families? Thank you CXB for all you do.  Now that's politics!!!

I think CXB Mgt Team has done an excellent job spreading the risk with quickly adding mines outside of Nicaragua.. Washington State is surely harder to get State permits than NV but with the Golden Eagle already in a historical mining area, hopefully some permitting is done and they can start doing some more work there after they get Valentine up and running.  The estimated gold in the ...more
