At one point in the 1980s, interest rates were as high as 21%. No Internet. Who needs the market making 17.5% on a 30 day term.

  Just a quick question:  If I could guarantee you an additional  1 cent per share per week on top of todays current price for the next 5 years, would you take it? To make it more interesting, let's assume the investment does not have to be held to maturity.  I have this feeling the gambler in you would decline. Does that sound correct?
