yet DFN is struggling to make it over the threshold for paying. If that is not a warning sign of a potential trap I don't know what is. This one is for gamblers now.

Well that has more to do with the holdings of DFN vs the mix in the S&P.  DFNs performance has been tied more to the TSX as per its prospectus.   As we all know the Canadian market has been challenged and higher rates have been a lead weight. I have been a gambler this week and hope I am right.

For me, it is about shorting it on the way down and buying it on the way up. As others have noted, these split corps are self consuming with respect to the NAV. Now if the TSX goes on a run, then there is room and time on the way back up to reep a series of dividend payments prior to a potential run back down - all based on the NAV. At least that is how I play it. As someone else noted here ...more

I'll sell over half if we see 5.35...after 9 years time to move to other ventures. It's been an interesting ride.
