Apologies in advance but is there a competition for having the most accurate NAV figures on a daily if not hourly basis? I understand this information is important but I'd personally much prefer commentary on direction and implications than worrying about variations of a penny or two.

Accurate and up-to-date information about NAV is always appreciated. It gives an idea if the current SP is unver or overvaluated. I don't think this is to the detriment of other information or discussions about this tiker. There's room for everyone, and for every topic!

I guess my point being I recognize the importance of the NAV but at the same time can't imagine I'm the only one that doesn't completely understand how a NAV of $15.51 versus $15.61 or $15.41 positions us for dividend continuation or suspension.

The main part of doing the UNIT NAV is to see whether it is fairly valued, undervalued  or trading at a ridiculous premium.  DFN has been at premiums up to 40% in the past... and that is a strong sell anytime it happens. Today it is actually trading at quite a bit of a discount, with the last sale at $5.24.. Still apparently lots of fear out there.

And this is exactly why I really appreciate your work and the fact that you share it.  It's pretty much like getting insider information.  Thank you for doing this.

I personnaly appreciate the fact that there is no politics her or name calling... If I want gossip, politics and name calling, I go to the Yahoo forums for a healthy source of drame... hahaha IMO the NAV is crucial in little information that we are able to get... Quadravest and Brombton give outdated info if any... I do not see it as a competition but a healthy Quality control from peers ...more

My main reason for being on stockhouse.com is to read what the spreadsheet wizards contribute. Larry50 can just press ignore on the wizards.

I do value the NAV commentary but do we really need or benefit from post after post siting UNIT NAV = $15.51; then UNIT NAV = $15.55; UNIT NAV = $15.50; UNIT NAV = $15.40.  If you look back I don't think I'd be exaggerating by saying 80%+ of the commentary is UNIT NAV and debate about why one person is a penny or two different than the next. Personally I'm more interested in ...more

"Personally I'm more interested in commentary as to why DFN is going up or down" The answer is in your question. The daily NAV plays a large role in the direction of the share price... long or short. Of course, the NAV and consequently the share price is affected by the overall market direction.   Some of these splits get more of a premium than others because of their ...more

And what 'NAV' price is needed for the dividend to be approved for the coming month?  DFN has paid with share prices as low as $5.17 in recent months so it would appear yesterday's close at $5.24 is marginal at best, but Monday being the 19th I assume Quadravest could approve it for September based on current pricing and current NAV?

All part of the risk/reward decision that every investor needs to make based on the available information... NAV, market direction, Quadravest management, etc...

Quadravest almost always uses the 15th of the month as the calculation date for paying to commons shares. The UNIT NAV is the important number, dont worry where the preferreds are as they always get a value of 10$. UNIT NAV must be at least equal to 15$ to pay to commons. We have seen Quadravest use earlier dates ( a few days max) and later days.

I absolutely love and am very grateful for the intra-day updates! Wish I could contribute better but my spreadsheets don't come close.
