Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali were all once French colonies.  And the French were one of the worst colonizers.  In Niger they attempted to maintain significant control , and the recent coup against the French backed Gov was a 'enough is enough' deal.  French control and influence was hugely corrupt, and benifited mostly the French toadies.  BF and Mali were the same

Be careful what you wish for ... Whereas France has dropped the ball in Africa there is increasing political pressure ( everywhere) to focus spending closer to home, givien the extreme over indebtedness of western governments. Russians will exploit the power/security vacuum. unfortunately 30% of EDV's 2023 gold production came from BF although that is likely to drift closer to 20
