Yes, This afternoon, I was actually chatting with my buddy, retired deepwater drilling engineer and company man for Chevron, about this. He said that no deepwater drilling contractor would allow any well testing in open hole. The hole section to be tested has to be cased. Well testing a drilled and cased hole can run into costs that would approach $100 million per appraisal well.  He ...more

kcac1 - get with the program. That article is 3 weeks old based on information from 2 months before that! So nothing new. Govt still has not declared any finality and most believe they are waiting for the team (FEC/CGX) to come up with some plan to finance this moving forward before giving the license back to them. No plan and eventually the removal of license will be permanent. Chicken and egg ...more

WS-Don't shoot a fellow Pro CGX/FEC messenger here. I did not comment on it, only posted a link to it. The article popped up on a search on any recent Corentyne news. I had not seen it before.  He has written a series of negative articles on both CGX and FEC over recent years and early on, he did not even know that both were completely controlled by Vulture Capitalists and he lacked many ...more

Kcac1- the fact that they designed Wei-1 as an appraisal well which is much more costly than an exploratary well means that they had justification to do so from the results of Kawa. Appraisal means it involves flow testing the well on various choke sizes shutting in the well after each test to determine the reservoir build-back pressure and from all of that info determine commercial viability ...more

Dirk, maybe lwd, mdt, mud logs, drlg samples, open and cased hole logs and other data didn't indicate zones worth testing.  In the end Wei net pay wasn't exactly stellar (especially in the maastrichtian). I can blame management for many things but they got good enough well data to confirm the commercial viability of NC. The apparent lack of interest from an industry partner to pick ...more

Yeah that's what my buddy thinks Sporty. Not good enough. You really never know until you test so not good enough to even test, keeping in mind that well tests in deep water run into the tens of millions of dollars. He also added that had this been a Lisa-1 Stabroek type of discovery before they even tested the area, then everybody would have been all over the NC prospect "like a duck on ...more

Poorly written trash..misinformation..The last official word we had heard from about the JV and its standing pertaining to the liscence was "However the matter is still at the cabinet level for further discussion"..Nothing since. Orlando Cabrales of Frontera told Juan Cruz of Morgan Stanley "Progress continues as normal there are no changes to the liscence."  It was ...more

Frank, how the f is anybody gonna know how to value North Corentune when we don't have any well info at all. If there is a conspiracy, then it's the deliberate lack of info. We don't even know the mud weight that they drilled the Maas or Camp at to get some kind of clue to something real basic like pore pressures ffs. All due respect to all posters who in the past have assigned ...more

Kevin...I have watched the Dec11 presentation 6 times ...I do not think those people are liars .....sure money was waisted ...it was not frontera but shell oil that did not release the rig to frontera for wei ....so that alone cost an extra    40 million.     They have and have proven ..as stated  between 500 and 600 milion in the mastrician level ....it may take another ...more

Frank, I didn't call them liars! I said that we don't know enough. Where do you want me to start about what we don't know? How bout they said that they took kicks on Kawa. At what depth? What was the shut-in drill pipe pressure, the shut-in casing pressure, mud weight, kill weight? It's these kinds of questions people are asking about operations, not to mention geology, logs etc ...more

Small time investors do not ...think about what you are questioning ....it is is the resourse there or not is it recoverable or not ...how long till cash flow or not ...you are getting to technical for even me and I worked on oil Riggs ...
Comment by Kelvin on Oct 26, 2024 2:39pm
Well Frank, there is one for sure certainty. They are definitely not lying. It's impossible for them to lie. So let's see what future info comes out. They may well have 500 to 600 million recoverable there. It wouldn't surprise me one bit from the plan views of the seismic that they showed in one presentation after Wei-1. Huge  area of reservoir rock. If it holds hydrocarbons and ...more
