I guess safe to say that negotiations for more royalties to the DRC government from Miners is not going well?? ....it will be a never ending story as will be the efforts to control and somehow improve the lives of the mom pop and children artisanal mining that so many have capitalized on....and continue to do so.  wait til Greta gets her feet on the ground there.....and is a story yet to ...more

it's just a high stakes game of chicken. Both sides need to see sales, so this is uikely to last more than 4 weeks. We shouldn't see too much impact longer term.

Please dont relate the DRC corupt government tactics, ambitions and practices to anything here in the north or about any development in the north - we may be a bit back woods up here at times but I sure as h-ll never saw any blockades on any ice road or anthing like that from anyone or any goverment in order to squeeze miners regardless of the billions made in gold, diamonds etc etc  In ...more

There is so much red tape around resource extraction in Canada -- that is its own corruption. FT's own management has spoken of this reality. Canada's layers of often spurious regulation work to the advantage of special interests in many instances with a patina of legality around such rent-seeking. What is insulting is the belief that just because 'developed countries' embed such & ...more

Your being ridiculas and you know it - Red Tape ? of course we have that and i am not saying it is good, but i dont know where your from but it red tape gets handled in your neck of the woods with under the table payments etc to government employees and polititions bring it on i would like to see it. I work with government all the time - you cant even buy them a GD coffee without an incident ...more

Because we don't have sanctions yet, I guess ? ... remember South Africa .... my guess as soon as Greta gets there and some other sources develop, like FT .... those sanctions  coming
