FTN unit nav no gain today, ended the day flat.

So stocks pulled back end of day, and very little gain for the USD vs CAD at the close.
FTN still trading at a very reasonable valuation, with quite a lot of safety.

It is unusual to see these three things together in a split. First the high safety margin. Secondly the 19.9% dividend yield and thirdly the very low premium ie 1.7%. Its high holdings of banks will probably keep the price subdued until inflation and lower interest rates are evident. When these latter two are under control perhaps people will be wishing they bought FTN at $7.70.

My concern with FTN is that there COULD be more debt concerns that affect the US banks in particular in the nearterm as high interest rates appear to sticking around for awhile. Most commonly quoted by some analysts  is the commerical debt, malls, office towers. Never mind the mortgage debt, credit card debts and car loans etc that are all decade high levels...too many years of 0% or NEAR 0 ...more
