My two cents

I have lot of frustrations from analysts to our fellow Canadians. 1. Definitely it was the best interest that Husky decided to walk away from the MEG deal. Look at Occidental's poorly timed and arrogance. Analysts have been punishing HSE for lack of growth well look at CVE for example. Growth over balance sheet. I'm glad that Husky is conservatively run which is so necessary in this industry. 2. What is more disgusting is our brothers and sisters from BC to QC and how we've treated this industry. I was born in Edm but moved to Vancouver many years ago. It pains me when I hear stupid comments about shutting down our oilsands and the pipelines. I totally agree that we need to balance the environmental impact while still navigating the economy. I wasn't a supporter of the Frontier project not because of the environmental footprint but it would never be economically feasible. The sheer stupidity that comes out of people's mouths here about shutting our energy is non sense we will still require oil! Guess which countries would be more then happy to fill that void - Saudis and Russians. Yes, let's give them more money for their terrorists campaigns and cruel dictatorship while they are both destroying our economy. What should happen now... I can't even believe that I agree with the Greens platform on one strategy. Canada first! We should produce and refine all of our energy for Canadians . We should immediately find ways to stop imports to protect our jobs.

This whole crisis will probably bring about alot of change after its over and being better prepared for inevitable next time. Canada,US, and Mexico should easily be able to supply NA with no need for imports. Set a price that allows profitability to oil companies but keeps gasoline prices reasonable for working folk. The world has focused on globalization but I can see reverteing back to more ...more

There is an excellent article on the Bloomberg site about how the virus has killed off the so called "progressive left." As industries around the globe struggle to survive, nobody is bothering with Greta, Davey boy Suzuki or any of the other "holier than thou" crowd who have nothing to do all day but criticize those who actually work for a living. We won't be hearing from ...more

same sentiment here.   Good to see most infected are in leftist and sanctuary states and provinces (ex BC, Ont, QC).  Ottawa maintain saudi oil import for many self interest reasons: 1. Saudi reciprocate by buying canadian military and commercial machines made in quebec and ontario 2. SNC Lavalin get easy access to  large scale contract work in saudi 3. Keep tankers of Paul ...more

Meg is now a steaming pile of bitumen which would have been worthless to Husky. Sometimes the best deals are the ones that you don't make.

Couldn't agree with you more. Everyone looks like a rockstar making a deal, but in the end it is all about earnings and cashflow. Balance sheet means everything. On Jan. 17, 2020 it was still trading at $20.7480 and still pumping the high dividend yield and Husky was trading at $9.19 (good ol days). Since then Husky has cratered but VET has crash much faster and the percentage is ...more
