One should be cautious relying on daily short volume reports... the major short seller is the MM@s because they don@t hold unlimited shares.... they sell shares that they don@t have and in turn go into the market to @cover@ the sold shares.@ @The spread is their protection from losses. A better measure of how what the shorts are doing is the total shares shorted reports generally only available

I'll try this again... One should be cautious relying on the daily short volume reports... the major short seller is usually the MM's because they try not to hold any inventory and when someone buys shares, the MM sells shares he doesn't own and then goes into the market and buys shares (which most of the time is owned by the seller and thus not a short sale) and thus "covers his
