But at least we have a date set, which is good news instead of guessing..! The judge presiding over the Thacker Pass lithium mine case in Nevada has set a hearing for January. Judge Miranda Du set Jan. 5 for the hearing to determine if Lithium Americas Corp. (NYSE:LAC) can go forward with the development of the Lithium mine, according to a court document.
Recall in September, the same judge denied a request from a few Native American tribes on a preliminary injunction for the Thacker Pass lithium mine.
Last July, Judge Du also ruled that Lithium Americas (LAC) may conduct excavation work at its Thacker Pass lithium mine site in Nevada, denying a request from environmentalists who said the work could harm sage grouse and other wildlife.
The hearing date is an important one and Lithium Americas wants to be able to start its mining/refining operation at Thacker Pass. Lithium Americas (LAC) was targeting "early works" construction at Thacker Pass for this year, according to a slide deck from late June.
Piper Sandler analyst Charles Neivert, who assumed coverage of Lithium Americas (LAC) last month with an overweight rating and $38 USD price target, wrote in a note on Sept. 19 that "Thacker Pass is a game changer for LAC."
