YouTube

YouTube was the first of its kind and earned market loyalty by providing the only venue for well intentioned individuals to share their know-how. That consumer loyalty is now in jeopardy because of the greed of a power-hungry management.

Bob Hits the Big Time, Booted Off YouTube for Thinking

I’ll still use YouTube from time to time, but with prejudice while avoiding consumption of their advertiser’s products. Hoping Jay Taylor will find a better venue for his service.

While I partially subscribe to Libertarian thought, monopolistic private enterprise in utilities is not compatible with Liberty.  Consumers need choices among suppliers of information to give value to many of our constitutional rights. So, congratulations to Bob on his latest award and indoctrination into cancel culture.  He is another brick from the wall that must eventually evoke the ...more

It seems to me the YouTube problem developed with permission from our culture. Today’s consumers have ignored the responsibility not to support this aggressive behavior with their money and elections. Don’t repress your Libertarian ideals and you may find a better solution than more government.

Given that there has never been a truly Libertarian form of government, perhaps you presume too much.

Well ValuePro since there has never been a true democratic government in the world perhaps you presume too much. First Democracy was in Greece in Athens yet Spartans and  others were not allowed to vote. ( oh yeah and slaves ).

This discussion about censorship on the internet is an interesting one as well.   Being blocked on YouTube or Twitter is not really the same as being kicked off the web or censored.  It's simply being removed from these sites.  Not much different than being banned from CNN is not like being banned from the news itself. The less satisfying and more mediocre these existing ...more

Could you be suggesting that the animals have already taken over the farm and that, in the end, people get the form of government they deserve?  If so, I agree philosophically.  Pragmatically, I don't.

Actually, what I believe is that the overly complex and corrupt system of today needs to collapse.  It needs to die.  Preferably killed. It will be messy and dangerous.  But it always is. “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” The quote, from a postapocalyptic novel by the author G ...more
