Upcoming dividend pay...

While PEY struggles to stay above $14 a share. Does anyone see a downturn in shares after the pay date? It's A pattern that I've noticed shortly after pay day most times. 

Scotia Bank, btw, has a price target of $23!  I don't take price targets to heart, but in the case, I sure hope they come out winning with that target.

Hey Stockmarket1, I am not sure trying to time purchasing or selling the stock solely based on dividend payout dates is a wise gameplan. I could argue if you purchased the stock beforehand, you would have the stock price change in your bank account....the dividend itself!! I know there are entire websites and people that buy/sell on these dates.... but all it takes is one bad or good day due to ...more

Hi John and thanks for the response. I've held Peyto for a decent amount of time and, for the most part, I really don't participate in " the timing thing ". It's an impossible game. A guess at best. Having said that...we all love to scoop up shares cheaper if possible. Especially if one is bullish with the security held.  I'm up nicely on this and was just curious ...more

You should always expect the valuation of a company to be reduced by the amount of the dividend payment. The reduction in the share price makes no difference to an existing shareholder since it is offset by the cash dividend received.
