Why did the stock go up on Friday; ex dividend day?

PEY went ex dividend on Friday and yet the stock price went up handsomely? I don't see any major announcements? I'm confused by this? Is the stock that hot that it pays out its dividend and then goes up? Please somebody clue me.

PEY went up $0.49 + $0.11 (div.) or 4.12% TOU went up $2.37 or 4.01% Nothing to worry about, but PEY volume was higher than normal. Next week will be interesting.

Interesting indeed.  Question is....will it finally break out and surge above $15 permanently or, will it go back home, which is below $15 for the many times since May 2022 ? That is the question.
