Why is CNQ going up nicely but suncor is stick in the mud

CNQ does natural gas , the king of energy in the coming EV era for electricity. CNQ still makes profit as their per barrel cost is 30dollarish, as for Su, 40plus.

The Saudi's DID sell out of their position in SU , mainly because they needed the money . From what I have been told , that sale has been completed and SU is still in the midst of a share buyback program .

What's crazy is in jan 2020 su was around 42 a share (canadian) and cnq was around $38. today su hovers around $23 and cnq is over $34.

I second that rumor on the street. Seems so. Suncor should rock and roll, now that WTI is hitting that 60$ mark. Oil should hit 70 by Summer and then starts the fireworks! patience will be rewarded. Fasten your seatbelt on the upward swing! Not for faint hearted.

Shale will keep on ticking upward at 5-10 rigs a week but they won't be in a position to accelerate development like they have in the past. US investors in debt and equity have turned the taps off and with Sleepy Joe in the big seat, the industry will remain under the microscope. They're going to be in production maintenance mode to the best that they're able to flow cash, delever and ...more

Thus far US rig counts have been ticking up 5-10 per week. However, lets see what 60+ WTI brings. The EIA sees a big uptick in drilling from current levels, particularly in H2 2021 and going into 2022 according to their latest short term energy outlook update: https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/ EIA estimates that U.S. crude oil production averaged 11.0 million b/d in January, which is ...more
