World Oil Prod 101.8 million SU Prod .748 million

I was going through Suncor, CNQ and CVE oil production data tonight in advance of Suncor's end of trading day tomorrow Q2 report.

Suncor's daily production of approximately 742,000 barrels is not that far from 1% (.72%) of world daily oil production. That is a significant portion of world oil production especially when you consider the decline rate for most of the production is 0.

CNQ and CVE have significant volumes as well but of course have significant natural gas in their total BOE/d.

These 3 companies are definitely important on a world scale.

j know several posters on the SU site are not that interested in SU or even hold SU shares, but they are certainly relevant on a world scale. Hopefully tomorrows report will be a nice treat for all SU shareholders and a down day for all the short and hedge fund players hoping for a bad report. Also will be great to get rid of the activist shareholders who have done so much harm to Suncor in the past .

Imtegrity, as you know, I have been around this Mulberry Bush for over 50 years since my first investment in a copper mine in 1969.  Frankly, when I read your posts, what I see is unrealistic hope.  My success over the years has been based on realistic pragmatism as opposed to hope. There is very little chance that that SU's 2Q numbers will vary significantly from the analysts ...more

10 years from now, demand for Crudes may well be even higher than today. Projecting todays politics forward 10 years is specious. There will always be an international call on Crude. There is really not enough of anything else that could be developed in time to replace it. The earnings report provides not only earnings but managements guidance. With new leadership , that guidance could be very ...more

Oldnagger - I agree that the earnings guidance will be not only interesting but useful in terms of making individual investment decisions. I don't disagree with you that there will be continued demand for oil for the foreseable future.  To me, as I have mentioned before, the relevant question as an investor is where to put my money to get the best risk adjusted return.  When I look ...more

I'm not sure Base camp is completely dead.  Get the cons back in and it gets approved

and possibly roll back some of the carbon tax, making ICE more fairly competitive again against EVs

Yes Meritmat I agree we should have Pierre in in 2 years and yes he will approve the lease extension if we get a majority. The Green machine has been around for a few years, but that has not prevented most of us on this board from probably seeing our greatest investment returns of our lifetime investing in oil & NG. I do agree with Experience that there will be a time in the not too distant ...more

integrity .... give this new mgmt a few Q's to get SU valuation up. Terra Nova re-deploy was already in the works, not a game changer but it adds over 10,000+ bbls/day NET to SU (48% owner).  Thats over $1M/day in new revenue right there.

light oil from the east  coast likely get brent pricing. I know Husky's whiterose does.

Experienced ..... how was the SU offer to purchase Fort Hills & Surmont a"botched attempt" when it was known from the very begining that COP always had ROFR on Surmont and were likely to use it? The final decision on Total's Fort Hills stake has not even been made yet. Do you believe you have a better insight on how these deals play out than Kruger? Perhaps strategy was to go for ...more

SU has had a great 5 days since their Q2 release. The shares have appreciated greater than 9% since the release. Like most of the actual shareholders on this board I do think we can expect aaditional upward movement depending of course whether the oil price can stabilize over $80. There will be ups and downs to the oil price with weekly mostly fabricated bad news out of China and manipulation in ...more

Hopefully no one made any decisions based on the Great Experiences comments (the Battery and EV expert - and I do believe he is very knowledgeable in this field). Hmm, i haven't learned anything from his vast knowledge in battery and EV. All i see were posting of EV/battery salad ideas from various external sources in attempt to seek clarification and scrutiny from this board to affirm ...more
