So, is alberta forest fire due to climate change or UCP cuts? make up your mind. alberta join the confederation in 1905. The federal gov't ( PM MacDonald) expressed concern about wild forest fires already back in 1883.  Alberta Forest Service - Preview (gov.ab.ca) I'm pretty sure we have zero forest fire fighters before 1900's. Yet, we still have forest in alberta today.  ...more

Actually, a big reason we have the large forest fires is due to bad forest management.  "Modern" forest management make two big mistakers IMO - they don't let smaller fires that don't threaten people or structures burn out and they leave lots of wood in the forests that should not be there. IMHO....it is a bit of a toss up as to whether all these fires are from climate ...more

Excellent point Experience.  I can speak directly to that issue as I worked for the BC Forest Service 2yrs in a row during summer hollidays while  going to school.  Our job over those summers was to clear all fire access roads and  selective areas of heavy dead brush mixed with old fallen trees.  We went out daily to these areas and cleared them out with chain saws and ...more

they eat pine trees and live in the mountain/foothill, so they're call mountain pine beetles :P

The last thing we need on this forum is comments from NDP supporters/negativity towards our great Canadian oil & NG companies. You always know an NDP supporter as they will blame everything on the UCP and most are negative to anything related to oil and NG production and pipelines. Fortunately they now have Nenshi as their leader and will lose seats in the next election . We had to live this ...more
