Note from BB if you are interested

I did get this email from Brian Bergot after I left him a message of concern about Florence not having the permit.  Nothing new here, I just thought you all might be interested in the info.

K*******,

I just tried calling but there was no answer. I appreciate your frustration, and all of us here share it as well. At this point, we don’t have anything new to offer since our update on Feb. 22. We believe the EPA is wrapping up some final administrative items before issuing the draft permit, based on what they have told us. They have not given a new timeframe but we remain hopeful the draft will be issued in the coming weeks.

Please feel free to give me a call and we can discuss further.

Nothing surprising here, except this is the response BB would have rather given: "The EPA is, always has been, and will continue to be, a ginormous pain in the azz to all mining companies, including ours. The remaining person needed to sign off on our project at Florence is a political appointee of the ultra leftist O'Biden administration and wants to wait until his / her next vacation ...more

Thanks for sharing. It's looking like May, or even July before they start the public comment process. And when that's done, you can be sure the EPA will take a few more months to issue the final permit....Jan 2023? My only question is whether the delays are politically motivated .

Not really BC, your guesses of "May, or even July" are exactly that...guesses. Not trying to be condescending with that comment, simply pointing out there is no rhyme or reason as to when the one person who still needs to sign off on the project decides to actually do so. Again, you need to realize a single cog in the process can cause a delay such as this and certain chuckleheads just ...more

Someone might be waiting for "a little extra incentive".
Comment by AlfTanner on Apr 13, 2022 10:01am
It is not "one person" delaying the permit.  Permits are simply not being approved anywhere under the Biden administration.  This includes mining, oil, and natural gas.  Oil companies, for example, might have a drilling permit, but then they cannot get permits for laying pipes.  What good does a drilling permit do if you cannot pipe the oil away?   This is a ...more

Sorry Alf, you're wrong on this point and we'll tell you why. First, we're on the same side of the political aisle, so don't take this post as being negative regarding your major thrust of beliefs about the O'Biden administration. They are truly Ulta leftist kooks who don't care about real progress. But, here's why you're wrong...according to your thought of the ...more

I want to believe you, but I tend to believe Alf.  Nothing this administration does makes sense.  Its total insanity.

Its almost as if this is how they want to slow down inflation.  Slow down the government, which slows down every aspect of the economy, which slows down demand for goods and services, which brings down costs.  That would be the ***backwards way of this administration.  Instead of taking steps to improve supply lines, make life miserable for everyone and declare it a victory.

It sounds like the public review period starts almost immediately on release of the permit.  There will be time after the review period befor the final.  The State permit took two months after the review period before the final permit came.
