we have had this discussion before. The record date is May 12. The ex dividend date is two days before that. I think you have to buy the stock by Monday to get the divvy

EX DIVIDEND DATE IS MAY 11............NOT MAY 12. We did have this conversation the last special dividend and you were wrong then, just as you are today. Ex divi is ONE day before the record date. The exchanges went to one day from two days in 2017. I found the Morningstar website that provides all the dates even if the company does not provide them. Click Here for Tou Dividend Dates

I didn't say the x dividend date was may 12. Two days, one day - only an anal like you would spend your time trolling the web sites to find this. How long did it take you? I couldn't care less. I'm not trying to time the buying for the dividend.

Idelwiss, I gave the correct ex date and pointed out your error, for the second time in three months. You are an arrogant slow learner. May not be important to you but very important to someone wanting to sell and get their divy. Took 15 seconds to find the website and how the ex-dividend date is calculated is investing 101.

If you read my post you will know that I said buy on Monday if you want the divvy. So, someone wanting to sell and get the divvy could do that on Monday. I didn't mislead anyone. If you are so smart why didn't you say something when the earnings came out. If you recall we were looking for answers. Unlike you I am never embarrassed to say that I don't know.

I may be an idiot but I am too scared to short this stock. Wouldn't it be easier to short one of the tech stocks?

Great theory, sometimes the stock falls on Xdiv day and sometimes it goes up. you are just taking a gamble selling short the day before , you could just as easily get crushed

I didn't say my comment was right. I was off by a day but you are anal. Come on - admit it. If you admit that you are anal I'll admit I was off by a day.

hey Bucco - just kidding with you man. Being "anal" like Gunnar. On a more serious note - Did anyone download the spreadsheet for TOU? And if so what equity valuation are you getting at, say, $4.00 gas. We can compare our numbers if you like.

The same couple of "investors" keep getting the ex date wrong. Use the link below to get the proper information. Ex is Nov 8 for the latest special divy. It also has the ex for the upcoming regular divy.

Totally agree. X divident date means that's the first day the stock trades without you getting the dividend. I find that the easiest way to remember. So that's the day you can sell your stock and still get the dividend.
