to start covering..I dont think the will untill $60 - $61

If they wait until $60 - $61 are they not losing money not selling at say $58. I thought shorters borrowed shares when the price is high to sell them at those high price.  Then when the stock price goes down, they buy at the low price to return the shares they borrowed.  I could be wrong.

You are correct...selling short which moves the share price down and then at some point buying back at a lower price to generate a profit. There needs to be a trigger...like declaration of a special dividend or very favourable company news...that drives the price back up, thereby causing a "short squeeze " whereby the shorters scramble to buy in order to cover their position...and the ...more
