First investment

New to Stockhouse and brand new to investing. I am only a young dude at 30 and my wife and l focused on buying a piece of land and building a small home for ourselves. Thankfully our mortgage not that huge as we did alot of work ourselves was renewed for a 5 year term at 2.75% 2 years ago. W e felt that now was the time to enter the market and after alot of study decided on UMAX and invested our first $10000 .We felt that the exposure to generation . Transportation and Telecoms was the right place to be to begin. Since these stocks are very interest sensitive and l saw on BNN that the BOC is looking at cutting in April 2024 . It should be a great entry point. And to cap it off . We get our first dividend payment in a few days.. We are looking forward to putting more to work and are looking at adding or buying an Energy ETF. Reading some previous posts it seems ENCC would be a good contender.??

Yup, ENCC is an awesome energy ETF 100% Canadian companies with "tax credit eligibie" dividends  if you are looking for tax efficient monthly income you  could do a lot worse than Umax and Encc and yes, as rates fall Utilities will definitely benefit  welcome to stockhouse and investing
