What energy mix can limit emissions and keep the lights on?
Climate delegates at COP 27 in Egypt are wrangling on what energy mix can limit emissions while keeping the lights on. UN Secretary-General Antnio Guterres has hailed renewables as 'the only credible path' to real energy security. COP27 delegates, however, are advocating for diversifying power generation, including nuclear power and fossil fuels in the energy mix. Forecasts have the worldwide demand for every type of fossil fuel will peak by the mid-2020s and then decline steadily, while clean energy investments will increase from $1.3 trillion per annum in 2021 to more than $2 trillion a year by 2030. We would argue that if you compare the cost of wind and solar with gas, they are becoming cheaper and cheaper, so moving into that renewable space system is a win-win both in terms of costs but also in terms of emissions, Wind turbines, solar panels and electric vehicles are core ingredients in sustainable energy mixes, but their rollout remains painstakingly slow. A dizzying array of bureaucratic hurdles and regulatory obstacles have created long delays. Some groups have pointed to the lack of political will as the main impediment to a full renewables rollout. Scientists say leaving coal, oil and gas in the ground is necessary to meet the Paris Agreement goals and keep warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. The gas industry is holding us back from moving away from the fossil fuel industry and towards renewable technologies because that would undermine their power and their profits. About half of the worlds fossil fuel assets will be worthless by 2036 under a net zero transition, according to research.

The longer we wait for what? Are you a supporter of Klaus Schwab and the WEF? Did you listen to his speech at the G20? Is that the road you really want to go down? That's really telling. Is he really a role model for us? I know our PM runs right down the middle of his road. If you missed his speech take a look and a listen and give me your thoughts afterwards: https://youtu.be/HF9FMtCMD5E

As one person asks - "who was it that ever voted for Klaus Schwab to determine where the world should go?" Just his disciples within the WEF?

Management can make these shares go to $40 or greater any day of the weak by simply increasing the dividend to say 3-4 $ per year. Will you be here when that happens ? I certainly will and hopefully I will own an even greater percent of the company when it does happen !!

Having recently sold half my Stelco shares only to see them pay a special dividend of $3 and bump the usual div by 40%, I have learned my lesson! Thank the stars the politicos didn't get round to taxing their HUGE profits, maybe that's why they decided to pay it out now to those who deserve it.

One more and I will bow out of this discussion so as not to clutter the board more than I have already: https://cei.org/blog/wrong-again-50-years-of-failed-eco-pocalyptic-predictions/

Since you have mentioned Palm Springs California , I feel compelled to chime in. Anybody who has not drunk the Koolaid really needs to drive out there to get a lesson in sustainable energy. Needless to say there is a very high percentage of installed wind turbines that are no longer operable. Apparently some of their large scale Solar plants have also gone sunny side down !!

I don't agree, actually money and fame are the driving factor even with all the activists! Otherwise show me one single activist fighting from his poverty. It is all from their luxurious outfit...
