This is kind of funny! These big firms (and their PRs) don't really need to say anything, their actions speak volume. It's not just anybody, when they inc/dec the portfolio size, market gets the message and price reacts accordingly. This validates the point that if they want to realize profit, they can do that whether long or short and regardless of the market condition. Let's say price is rising and they are short, just reduce the portfolio size (or just declare the intention), they are in profit and vice versa! Once you are in billion $ mark and you have significant fund to play with, no matter what, market will follow you.
Although there is nothing wrong with it, everyone tries to predict the market and make money one way or the other! Unfortunately, more often than not it works for the big fishes!
