Selective solution mining
I have continued my lab and modelling study on selective solution mining. Just why is it so difficult? My current belief is the long held "secret special sauce" of "105 degree brine fully saturated in NaCl", is in fact the "poison pill". In lab studies, that brine in contact with potash ore, totally covers the ore with a thick salt (NaCl) coating. It is used at Belle Plaine and probably at K+S for secondary mining and works in their large predeveloped caverns, though even there it is probably a mistake.
Thanks to Western for their pioneering this technique. With some adjustments it will work.
