No charlie,

You have the same affliction as most Retail Investors, someone says "boo" and you freak out. That's what your buddy Lucas was talking about when he called Retail Investors "Sheep".

You have to be stronger than most, more patient than the many and (most importantly) do actual research and understand when a stock is trading cheap.

It's a marathon many can't complete, don't beat yourself up over it

Q, imo you seem to have it backwards, it's you long's that are the sheep.  Anyone can buy shares.  And as the price gradually falls over the years, from 20 to 15 to 10 to 5 to 1, the sheep are asleep.
