Trail Smelter

Teck says they don't know how much Germanium (Ge) is produced as a by-product of their zinc concentrate. Chad at the AGM said the money is in the zinc and Ge represents 1 percent of the overall value. Fireweed Metals in their recent News Release said they discovered and hosted one of the largest undeveloped Ge assets in the world in Yukon, but gave it zero value because it is hard to trace from processing the concentrate ores. We all know, the annual US market for Ge is relatively small at less than $60 million. The world mkt at $300 million is controlled by China (60%) and now DR Congo (30%).

At that AGM Chad was responding to a question regarding the the cost to determine the overall Ge significance/metallurgic testing paramaters in relation to the values of all other minerals; Zn, Ag, Pb etc so far drill confirmed at North Rackla. His quick off the cuff answer related to assaying costs re Ge, i.e. (1%) insignificant. With respect to zero value for FWZ Ge , smelters in North America ...more

That is why when I attended PDAC in 2023 I walked in on a conversation between Chad and the operator of Trail smelter and overheard him saying that they were well equipped to process the germanium from the North Rackla. It's obvious they were going to do it for free. Insert sarcasm here.

MrJimLahey I applaud your undercover work. I just happened to be standing at the edge of a table near the booth when I caught my nugget of gossip. You are committed. You went into a stall and smelled excrement and literally heard nuggets drop to get your information. Well done, sir!

Interesting I was the guy selling individual sheets of toilet paper at 11 cents each at the door of the washroom.
