Electra Nears Final Permitting For Ontario Cobalt Refinery

Electra Battery Materials is nearing the completion of its refinery expansion project. The company is currently working towards bringing the only cobalt sulfate refinery in North America to the production stage.

Does this mean they can finally start building something?  Something that will be completed by years end 2022?

They have been refurbishing the refinery. They got the sewage permit, which is one piece of the puzzle to being able to operate the refinery. They've recently got other permits over the last year.

Does permitting really = final stages of building? Thats not what I am reading.   I am not familiar with your math.  I thought a permit meant that they can now begin to construct something.  ANyone?

AwareInvestor. Electra is most definitely not nearing completion of its refinery expansion project. It hasn't started. Trent in a very recent interview talked about tenders and starting construction in coming days as the snow melts. I had to listen to his statement as he mumbled the words. Snow won't be melting for about 6 to 8 weeks.  The permit needed now is the BUILDING PERMIT and ...more

Silverado, since you are well versed in these proceedings, I will ask what does "filed the final closure plan for the refinery expansion" mean? It is in the very first sentence of the last news release regarding the sewage permit. I would think that building plans/drawings would be included in such a filing and wouldn't necessarily be made public via a news release.  Trent ...more

I will answer my own question. I google searched final closure plan and it means a plan to decommission the refinery at the end of its service life.
