Li-Cycle
Just watched a news segment featuring Kingston, ON based Li-Cycle. It seems to be light years ahead of ELBM with respect to black mass recovery, so I'm wondering if ELBM's focus on black mass is just to distract us from the disaster that is the refinery. There simply aren't enough EV batteries scheduled to be recycled right now to warrant companies competing in this sector, and fulfilling cobalt contracts are at least two years away. Going to be a long, slow road for ELBM imo. They're caught in no man's land.

Li-Cycle's Kingston plant processes batteries into black mass. It does not refine black mass. They do have a black mass refinery in development in the US, though. I wouldn't be surprised if ELBM is processing Li-Cycle's black mass. We don't know who the supplier is yet.

Sorry, yes, didn't make myself clear there. They are building a black mass refinery in upstate New York. It just seemed to me they are able to move a lot faster than ELBM in upscaling and diversification.
