Nope the TSX Venture market is not a sham...it's high risk and high reward.  Obviously, you only heard "high reward" and chose to ignore the high risk part! lol!  Most companies on the TSX Venture are actually not pump and dumps....if you are looking for that then start investing in the OTC pink sheets.
