FLYHT has been favourably looked upon by the Albertan government since inception. The first plane to have an AFIRS unit (a 220) installed on it was an Albertan government Dash-8.
From the 2003 Aeromechanical Services financial report...
During the four months ended March 31, 2003 the Company:
- completed the design specifications for AFIRS
- had ten prototype AFIRS units manufactured, tested and delivered
- received STCs from Transport Canada for AFIRS
- installed one AFIRS unit on the Alberta government DHC-8 aircraft
- test-flown and verified the data being collected and transmitted by the AFIRS unit
- completed the beta version of UpTime, the database management software that receives, interprets and transmits the information from AFIRS to our data-hosting server in Toronto
I believe that this Dash-8 (built in 1985) was purchased by AVMAX in 2016 and was converted for use by FlyViking. Avmax has had an association with FLYHT for several years and is very familiar with AFIRS.
