"Calgary, Alberta – February 16, 2024 – FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (TSX-V: FLY)
(OTCQX: FLYLF) (the “Company” or “FLYHT”) today announced that Transport Canada has issued FLYHT a Supplemental Type Certificate (“STC”) for the flange version of the AFIRS EdgeTM, the Company’s 5G wireless data communication device, for Airbus A320 aircraft. The achievement of this STC enables FLYHT to ship the Edge units to Canadian A320 customers while at the same time familiarizing the Canadian STC into other jurisdictions to enable worldwide distribution.
In Kent's first paragraph he mentions that this is the "flange" version, which is important because we expect a lot of orders for this version. Teledyne has, I believe, arounfd 25,000 installations of there WQAR eqipment and has no plans to build a 5G upgrade. Also, we have orders for the Edge for the US and UK weather monitoring. Since we have this STC, this makes it likely that we will get some Edge revenue in Q1."
The Satcom version has not been fully approved as yet but it should be soon, since the provisional STC was posted last summer. Also, I note that in Kent's January presentation that CF reposted mentions that that WestJet has been selected for the NOAA collaborations. I became convinced last year that they would be the launch customer of the Edge on Boeing, which did not happen, of course, since that honour goes to Flair Airlines. It please me, however, since it adds evidence to Bill's projection that he expected WestJet would, eventually, put Edge on all their planes.
