No, there is not an abundance of battery fires but that doesn't stop people from worrying. My wife won't leave the dryer on & go to bed. So, if you're charging overnight in your residence there will be a lot of people with safety concerns. Let's face it the general population are hyper safety oriented. Look no further than covid.

Yes, perception is different, but same is true for any new development. COVID, probably, is not good example - this was a real problem. Our health system was on brink of collapse at one point. In begining of EV, there were problems with batteries and some people fear it. When people see EV carss everywhere and they are not blowing up from time to time, fear quickluy subdued.  I am sure if

Health system aside the average age of death by [with] covid was/is higher than the average age of death in the general population,  But on the batteries catching fire, the point being is, if you are selling a car with a battery that has a chance of catching fire vs a car with a battery that has no chance of catching fire, which one are you going to buy? For me all other things being equal
