Insight into Vice Minister Of Mines Approach to Romero

Insight into Vice Minister Of Mines Approach to Romero

This a great interview with Vice Minister of Mines Miguel Angel Diaz. Miguel is a key piece to the approval of the GQC permit because he has 27 years of experience in the global mining industry, specifically in environmental affairs. He has worked in Europe, Africa and Latin America, becoming Technical Director of major engineering firm, Amec Foster Wheeler, based in the United Kingdom. The Mine Minister Almonte and the president Abinader will rely heavily on him for the approval of the permit.

This is a 2 year old interview but it gives you an idea of his view on the Romero project and how he is going to approach the approval of the permit.

Interview is in Spanish, you will need to change the closed caption from Spanish to the language that suits.

I thought it was a good find.... The other forum didnt think so. Its looking pretty good.   When I first got into GQC 2 years ago I thought it was a slam dunk and bought everything I could. Then after a year of waiting I started to question was this the right play. Then maturity stepped in and I started to evaluate everything and measured the risk vs reward. Its all coming ...more

QFS? The Trump administration is dead meat - if anything in GQC's future depends on that then we are as good as dead also.

Please show me how to hear the interview in English, TIA!

You have to enable close captions. There is a setting for english.     I will paraphrase the whole thing in a couple sentences. This mine is really good. The people dont need to worry as construction will be done to global standards. Lots of tax dollars, lets start building it.  What we didnt see was behind the scenes where the president, his sister, the ...more

I also like the now Vice MEM Miguel answer when asked; based on his experience the possibility of Romero becoming a production mine on scale of 1 to 10. The Vice MEM answered 8 out of 10. This is a guy who has consulted on similar underground mines in very environmentally sensitive areas in Europe. I was really encouraged by his tone on this interview, this guy will be an asset to GQC going ...more

With one word the Vice Minister in the past is also still in the new administration now and for the development of the deposit! Then we can assume the new Minister is the hold up or  Goldquest Management policy towards the native population in the area should be a more supportive one!

The new Vice MEM was not part of the old administration, this is his first Public office job. He was in the Private sector before taking this role.  I think GQC Management had no chance with the misinformation campaign that was launched by the president's sister in the region. I think this time around GQC with the support of the new V MEM will have more traction in engaging the San Juan ...more

The APROFUNDIDAD interview, which took place 2 years ago was with the Director General de Minerva  ALEXANDER MEDINA who was seconded by a  Mr MIGUEL DIAZ ! You stated that this is now the Vice Minister of Mines MIGUEL ANGEL DIAZ of the present Administration. He might not have held this position in the former administration but I assume he is still the same person or better said expert ...more

Yes that is the same Miguel Angel Diaz, who is the current Vice MEM under the new administration. I believe he still holds the same stance on the permit. Some people seem to think that Almonte holds all the cards but Almonte's expertise is in Nuclear Energy while Miguel background and experience makes him the perfect person to help GQC & DR navigate the approval process for the Romero ...more

We could not get a better man in the field than him! He knows which treasures are on this island buried in the prime plate tectonics on Earth! He also knows how to mine them without destroying the environment!  Buy! Buy the weak hands!

"What we didnt see was behind the scenes where the president, his sister, the geologist and the minister of mines had their hands out wanting the huge up front payout before signing off on it." but that is what happened in the previous administration, the reason the exploitation licence was on hold since 2017 was entirely political.  Are you suggesting nothing's changed?
Comment by burlguy on Jan 11, 2021 8:15pm
No I am suggesting that everything is looking spectacular and we should have notice of permit being granted any day now. I am very confident on where this is going.
Comment by Krishak5 on Jan 12, 2021 9:05am
I spoke with management yesterday, and share your confidence, though not your comment that "everything is looking spectacular". The bottom line, take away, from my conversation yesterday is that there is absolutely no reason why the exploitation licence will not be granted. It will happen, but patience IS the most difficult aspect of investing to manage. When everyone has something to ...more
