The Digital Universal START NATIONALS INTERNATIONAL CONGRESSIONAL ECONOMY SPORTS PRESENT OPINIONS EDITORIAL OPINION Environmentalist Luis Carvajal contradicts mining exploitation in Los Romeros SJM NATIONALS NEWS | SATURDAY, 15 OCTOBER 2022 09:25 | BY EXTERNAL SOURCE Compartir Environmentalist Luis Carvajal contradicts mining exploitation in Los Romeros SJM Environmentalist Luis Carvajal SAN JUAN, RD.- The environmentalist Luis Carvajal said that the proposal made by the Gold Quest mining company, regarding the exploitation system that it would make in Los Romeros, is the one that would produce the least negative impact on the environment. Carvajal, in an interview on the "Primera Plana" program, maintained that underground or underground mining and the method they would use is much less polluting than any other. Carvajal, who is a leader of the UASD Science Academy, despite opposing the exploitation of the Los Romeros mining deposit in San Juan de la Maguana by the Gold Quest company, acknowledges that the proposal made by that mining company executed as they have indicated, it would produce a good economic impact for the region and recovery of the upper basin. He also referred to the environmental impact study that the company is requesting, arguing that it is legal, but that he himself should not allow himself to be in an area close to the river basin. In a frank contradiction, Luis Carvajal, on the one hand, emphasizes that the project as presented by the mining company would be the one that would affect the area the least and that it would bring economic benefits to the region. He says he opposes it because other mining companies have not complied in the country. The member of the Academy of Science of the UASD, maintains that if the Gold Quest mining company were to execute the project as it is presented, it is the system that would produce less environmental pollution in relation to open mining. Carvajal bases his position on the right he claims to have to believe or not what is stated. He also understands that the environmental impact study is what the law mandates, but he opposes that Los Romeros be ordered to do the same, due to its proximity to the river basin.
