Sabaneta, San Juan.– Neighborhood associations and agricultural organizations of the Hondo Valle, La Higuera, La Maguana, Sabaneta communities and other towns in the northern area of San Juan de la Maguana expressed their support for the environmental studies of the Romero mining project .
The meeting was held at the Sabaneta fishing house, where hundreds of people gathered and a manifesto was read in favor of environmental studies in that town.
As they expressed, only with the studies "will it be possible to know the truth" about the initiative and whether or not it would affect the environment.
They deplore the fact that sectors of San Juan de Maguana oppose the studies, and "have never come to the area in support of those who live there."
They asked President Luis Abinader to authorize environmental studies for the Romero mine and thus find out "if that gold from San Juan could be the one that lifts the province out of poverty."
In the activity, Paulino Taveras, Hctor Ramn Familia, Augusto Mateo, Romelio Pinales (who read the manifesto) and Adrizon Caldern spoke on behalf of the northern zone of the municipality of San Juan de la Maguana.
They indicated that from now on they will initiate mobilizations, in order to allow the studies to be carried
