Another $9.9 Billion

Biden-Harris Administration Sends Another $9.9 Billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to Transit Agencies Across the Country

Comment by davewho on Mar 02, 2024 3:44pm
we saw a sp gain 29Feb and 01Mar this new $9.9b in funds could be the reason. Full-year formula funding will be available once Congress passes an FY 2024 appropriations bill. Once enacted, transit funding will support President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support transit in 500 urban communities across the country and rural transit systems nationwide, allowing hundreds of ...more

"This is the latest round of funding made possible thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to investing in our nation’s transit systems in communities of all sizes, improving transportation for all Americans. " I don't believe we saw any moves in the share price for the previous rounds of funding and none of us retail investors here were aware. Maybe GSI will issue a ...more

at quick glance it looks like the US bus manufacturers were also up after that announcement.

New Flyer and Lion Electric were down, but they both released earnings. Unless GSI reacted positively to previous infrastructure funding news, I don't recall that happening before, then I doubt it moved up because of it. I wouldn't say that GSI is a market mover and investors would jump into this CDN nano-cap because of U.S. infrastructure funding.

Maybe we were up on news of the data center opening up? We really have no idea why the share price was up unless we survey the buyers and asked why they were buying.

I'd put a good bet that it's the news on the data center. I know it was already mentioned in the Youtube interview before, but not everyone follows those, and a timeframe was never specified in the interview. The illiquidity here makes it so ripe for price discovery and news taking a much longer time for the market to "digest". The way I personally interpret the news is that ...more

I would agree that company specific news of the data center was the reason. Even on the day of the news release, the stock was hesitating to move in the early hours as investors were patient with their bids. When investors knew they had to hit the bid to get their buys, the stock started to move. We know the significance of being able to scale up recurring rev.

thanks guys for your insights. Always appreciated. Since the Data Center NR and the new Fed funding NR both came out 29Feb the timing made it somewhat tricky to pin point the why of GSI's then rise in volume and sp. Maybe like Ciao said DD will comment on the new Fed money. There is a link on the NR as to where the money is going state by state. CA and NY look to get the most.  When you ...more

Being a "layman", my interpretation of the data center and NR's is probably diferent from those whom are educated in what is happening. My thoughts are from reading between the lines. The NR stated a new customer coming on line with layering July 1, so it becomes the"absolute" date the data center will be fully operational. DD can have "no" errors ...more

Yes, GSI has 10% of the K-12 market and IMHO they will capture more. Doug has said that the upgrade cycle of wireless has put GSI's PaaS on the map. In one of the recent interviews Doug said they were a handful, then he corrected himself and said one of 2 companies that provide PaaS. The layering on of revenues, with say STOP ARM will accelerate further growth. I first bought into GSI because ...more

For the stop arm tech I'd say they are delivering very well. Looking at our revenues, the SEPTA's contract is a huge chunk but ultimately a minority, the rest of the revenues are being carried by K-12 If you're talking about massive revenues they could have had by doing ticket revenue sharing (I believe something like 50% of ticket fines going to GSI.V is what DD mentioned in much ...more

Bus Patrol appears to have a bulk of the Stop Arm "ticketing" business. It does appear to leave a bad taste obvioulsy for those who are fined and perhaps the revenue sharing model is questionable based on how revenues are distributed. If you look at the Google reviews for Bus Patrol, the negative ratings and comments come from those who have been ticketed. GSI seems to have done a major ...more

lots of stuff on the website I've never seen before. Someone is doing alot of work in there and it appears still more to come since many of the embedded links don't work yet. Is this that other company GSI teamed with. I forget their name off hand. What's this TeamViewer App? Support - Gatekeeper Systems (gatekeeper-systems.com)
