Before Or After the Recession

Hello LME Forum,

Watching a lot of news out there,  And ALL signs are pointing to some BIG pain coming for the USA and therfore also Canadian ecomny.

Not sure about M&A,  but wondering what your thoughts are if a buyer isn't annoucned before the Fall when everything offically falls apart and the blood is in the street.  Will that Delay further or Help faster the potential buyout?

Gold is likely to drop, then rise.  Thoghts on the effect the recesion will have on our GUESS at timelines?

The optomist in me wants to think it will happen before, but with that being said from the eyes of a suitor looking to finance a deal would be better down the road because of high interest rates. With LME only being bought in an all cash deal there are very few companies with that kind of cash just lying around so more likely trhan not a suitor may need to aquire financing to complete the deal ...more

It's an interesting question, and my answer is based on what I think is a reasonable timeline and that is an aquisition sometime between 2024 and 2026. Laurion structure is private money. I will assume that the majority of it is locked up for the long haul, but with an uncertain economy, that will be tested. Consider that Nick Ierfino who is on the board and is an accountant, spent $100k to ...more

It will be interesting to see what happens. You mention how the majority of the money is locked up and that will be tested. I think if there is anyone with significant amount of shares looking to sell they almost wont be able too for anything signicant if they didnt buy in under the 10-20 cents range. I am not sure what recent level II data looks like but I would assume, just off of typicaly ...more

I dont disagree with that, and I am not suggesting massive amounts of panic selling is going to ensue as a result of a market meltdown. There is sometimes a perception that the wealthy are immune to economic turbulence and I was using Nick as an example of how that is not neccesarily true. Last September when Laurion issued warrants at over $1.00 many people here were implying it was a " ...more

Hard to say Wmaver. Typically precious metals do well even in recessions that we went through many times.   Got another post from Roger on Facebook, although he keeps his messages always positive, I look at the key words he keeps throwing in: like "Refusing initial Buyoyt" in capital letters. He posted another one just now see below. I have a friend that closed his assets and ...more

Not really sure short term fluctuation in gold price is that important. If offer came today , it would not close for many many month. Then set up occurs, then mining the gold out of ground to get sold. The last piece of gold will not come out of ground for at least ten years. So the price in fall for gold is a better indicator than today, but this difference will be hardly relevant when the gold ...more
