Lowest stock of Nickel in LME

For the first in time in 5 year, the stock of Nickel is lower than 40.000 tons.

If course after the big issue of last year, not sure how it's accurate but it's a good indicator.

Thanks, interesting information. It's confirmed that the stock of class 1 nickel has a low stock (Shangai and LME). If I remember correctly, Mhp is more considered as class 1.

Class 1 Nickel Lithium-ion batteries utilizing nickel-rich cathodes require high purity nickel, typically in the form of nickel sulphate. As the main feed for EVs battery cathodes, nickel sulphate is currently manufactured by dissolving Class 1 nickel (i.e. greater than 99.8% purity nickel metals) in sulphuric acid. Agree with class I necessary for EV production. There is a huge difference in cost and risk to transform laterites nickel into class I nickel.  where some articles talk about production in Indonesia creating a surplus, it will not  necessarily affect the price of Class I nickel for batteries vs stainless steel. I also believe the demand for SSteel will soon increase again. Take a look ...more
