'Permit Milestone on 47-Million Ounce KSM Gold Deposit is Positive News for Nations Royalty'
Nations Royalty and KSM Project Milestone
Marking a significant regulatory milestone, Nations Royalty (NRC.v) announced that the KSM Project, owned by Seabridge Gold, has received a "Substantially Started" designation from the government of British Columbia.
Largest Undeveloped Gold Project
Located in BC's Golden Triangle, the KSM Project is the world's largest undeveloped gold project as measured by reserves and resources. NRC, which is majority-owned by the Nisga’a Nation, holds a significant royalty interest in this project.
NRC's Vision and Goals
NRC aims to become a top global royalty company, specializing in Indigenous-owned royalties and revenue streams across various sectors, including precious metals, critical minerals, oil and gas and renewable energy.
Nations Royalty is majority-owned by the Nisga’a Nation, with a strong Indigenous presence on the board. The KSM Payment Entitlement, negotiated by the Nisga’a Nation, is a key part of NRC's royalty portfolio. NRC's vision presents a unique opportunity for Indigenous groups and investors to access a diverse portfolio of assets, and the successful development of the KSM mine would greatly benefit NRC's shareholders.
Seabridge Gold and Future Partnerships
Seabridge Gold is now in discussions with potential joint venture partners, with the "Substantially Started" designation enhancing its appeal. The KSM deposit contains vast reserves of gold and copper but faces challenges related to high capital expenditures, estimated to be as much as $10 billion. However, recent permitting progress is expected to facilitate future development partnerships.
The recent permitting success for the KSM Project positions it as a multigenerational economic anchor for northwestern BC, with the potential to advance NRC's ambitious growth plans.
