POET Technologies Ord Shs > Customer delays

Customer delays

Poet says it is at the mercy of customers timelines but never says why customers keep changing timelines. Could it be that customers are delaying because Poet keeps announcing product enhancements and forthcoming improvements. Why would a customer commit to buy version 1.0 when you tell him version 2.0 is just around the corner.

e.g. why would Luxshare showcase a 800g transceiver with a Poet RX engine but no Poet TX engine, especially when Poet announced develop of TX engines months earlier? As a potential Luxshare customer, I'm simply going to wait until Luxshare comes out with a 800g transceiver that has both a Poet RX and TX engine. I don't want to do iteration after interation.

Aug 30/23 - In cooperation with one of the Company’s lead customers, Luxshare-ICT (SZ: 002475), POET along with its joint venture partner, Super Photonics Xiamen (SPX), will showcase a live demonstration of the performance of Luxshare's 800G OSFP transceiver that incorporates POET’s 800G Rx optical engine.  POET and SPX will present additional live demonstrations of optical engines for 800G, 400G, and 200G transceivers operating over a wide temperature range and 2km to 10km of single mode fiber transmission. The demonstrations of linked optical engines on both the transmit and receive ends of the fiber highlight the end-to-end performance and product readiness of POET’s optical engines and allow customers to experience the simplicity and compact design of the products.

After BreX mining companies have to follow strict guidelines re grades, deposits, what have you. Tech companies need reporting guidelines on what stage they are in with their "partners" or "customers". Heck their should be guidelines on who you can call ccustomer or what you can announce as order or a definition of order ready without a place to make your stuff. Poet's ...more

Poet should have a glossary of terms on its website. The NRs are laced with technical jargon which is hard to understand.

Interesting thought indeed.. obviously after some 2 years of kicking tires, customers must feel that POET product is not all that management claims to be. If this posters information  is even remotely correct, then POET product doesnt even come close to cutting it, for the reasons stated. 1.Compatible and or Superior products out there. 2.Poet product is too expensive In fact, sounds like POET ...more

That's a crock.  800g uses more power than 400g so power savings more important than ever.  Cost savings on legacy products are reduced to 10% but costs savings on the AI products huge (75%)     Lower module costs: Jan 2021 25%-40% May 2021 20%-40% Aug 2021 20%-40% Aug 2022 10%-40% Jun 2023 10%-40% Nov 2023 10%-75%   Lower power use: Jan 2021 ...more

Since POET is not even in production, the only reason for lack of sales is simple, it's either too expensive and or not as good.

Looks like Poet has the solution and can compete several years out in the future. Not counting others are advancing their tech and costs. If Poet is supposed to be able to compete with 800 iteration several years out, chances are good in several years Poet will be in the same 100 iteration position they are now. Somebody wake up the boys at Poet to this reality.

We are to believe that a company struggling to raise $5 million (at "steep discount") to pay wages and rent, intends to start manufacturing at scale? So, even if POETs OI is a must have for the industry, the capital necessary for this "PIVOT" would obliterate the shares count. Truly sad whats happening here for the shareholders.

There is a lot of hallucinating going on.

Sanan still needs to provide $15M US to earn its full share in JV. This will be the working capital to ramp production.
Comment by wintersun10 on Dec 18, 2023 10:10am
Right. So, lets get the legacy 100 and up going. Forget about making 1.6, which will be to slow or expensive in a couple of years anyways. Just focus on something that works. Why is the 100 too expensive? Fix it, then move up with the next iterations. Finally show the market proof of concept. Learning lessons from getting the 100 iteration going should help later iterations. Stop living in the ...more

As for the pricing. Typically there is a difference between the listed price and the real price. Unless you are the key customer with the lowest price, you are not going to know the real pricing.

Another potential reason for the lack of sales. Poet has no place to fill orders. Build it and they will come? Who knows a chicken and egg question?
Comment by lscfa on Dec 17, 2023 9:39pm
Also, Poet has made it known that it plans to make/sell its own modules. So why would someone buy Poet engines at a marked-up price to build modules and try to compete with Poet modules built with Poet engines sourced at cost?   Our goals for 2024 include:   Completing a transmit optical engine design that will incorporate EMLs, which have become an industry standard at ...more

Great Post! So the way I see it .POET has a race produce their product & deliver it on time ,on budget & get paid .WAIT & SEE if they can get into the BLACK & until then I ask all shareholders demand management take $1 as salary .CEO has the most shares & has the most to lose.$0.78 cents is crazy when POET was $11. What happened? They need to work 12 hour days to restore their ...more

As co. fails to disclose reasons for customer delays we are left to speculate. The JV agreement says SPX must us Sanan lasers. Maybe customers did not want to use them. Thus the recent agreement for  a supply of lasers from Yuanjie Semiconductor Technology Inc. and the spin by the co. that  "As we start ramping production of our optical engines, securing an additional reliable ...more

Poet simply has to explain what on earth is going on. This is a Public Company. Poet management has to REPORT to the OWNER shearholders, or they HAVE TO GO. No more baloney. See where it got us. Sales manager says sales in Q3-4 next year just like the previous  years. UNACCEPTABLE. Come on Fantasy Land, you cannot accept that, you cannot be that gullible.
