Anyone know why Poet couldn't get Foxconn to do the manufacturing of these modules rather than SPX which would get production out of China.

Poet has a plant paid for sitting empty. So, they might as well use it. Rather than paying Foxconn for production. If the sales pick up no doubt Poet and Foxconn could make another deal for Foxconn to make whatever.

Foxconn has manufacturing facilities all around the world whereby SPX is stuck in China.  I'm not sure I trust them making higher end modules as the Chinese govt doesn't strike me as respecting patent protection. By manufacturing outside of China reduces political risk. I was of the opinion that they were only going to rely on SPX for manufacturing legacy products and the goal was to ...more

They are not going into production before the 2nd half of 2025. So, if it takes all the hurdles we will see in 2025 where the best place is to make it.

Who knows how it goes. Foxconn might be the buyer of the JV plant. And then you got Foxconn making the stuff. Not for us to worry about any of this. That is why you need a first class management, why they get paid the big bucks. Just make sure they are 1st class.

SPX will make optical engines, not modules. FIT will make the modules.
