6-1 How much more?

Experienced hands... What's your guesstimation for full 6-1 depth of play?
April 15th: RECO reported,
"First Drill Site (6-2 well)

The well sample log of the 6-2 provides over 200 meters (over 660 feet) of oil and natural gas indicators/shows over three discrete intervals in a stacked sequence of reservoir and source rock."
Now, June 3rd,
"Based on initial analysis of this first section, ReconAfrica is pleased to report 134m (440 feet) of light oil and gas shows from the 6-1 well."

I can't really answer your question directly, that's for the engineers with the geo progs (basically the expected formations and associated pressures). However, some interesting aspects of the release. Generally you set intermediate casing BEFORE entering the higher pressure formations contains hydrocarbons, to properly isolate the upper formations from possible contamination. The fact ...more

TYVM. 6-1 Target Depth is 3,800m = 12.500'  As today's update is merely 6-1's first section showing 134m = 440', and considering 6-2's three stacked intervals totaled 200m = 660', we're looking at a much deeper find.

The 12 1/4 casing could accomodate drillstem test equipment. Do we know if they have that capability on this rig?

You could do a drill stem test if they set 7" or 9 5/8" intermediate casing as the production hole section out of the shoe would likely be 6 1/4" or 8 3/4" respectively. They likely could do a drill stem test, but it would take some time, and are those even really done anymore (they aren't in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin - but that could also be a function of the ...more

Thanks. I think a drill stem test is the right thing to do rather than set production casing and run an IP flow rate. Mabybe not for this well but when they drill on structures.
