Couple of quotes regarding seeps...

 In 1940 DeGolyer (DeGolyer & MacNaughton | World Wide Petroleum Consultants) stated that oil and gas seeps had resulted in the discovery of  more oil and gas fields than any other  single method. Amazingly, 39 years after the centennial issue of the Oil and Gas Journal (January 28, 1979) stated, "Drilling on oil seeps and trends is as good a way of prospecting today as it was then and down the years more oil has probably been found by the use of these simple principles than from all the new techniques of geology and geophysics combined."

Gas and oil seeps meant squat if no traps found.To wit: 6-1 and 6-2 wells with gas seeps that turned out to be dry wells.   Report published by ReconAfrica:   "...Active Combustible Gas Seep As part of our ongoing dialogue with local communities, an active combustible gas seep was found, termed ASF-1 on the map above in the northwest area of the CGW. And the ISF-1 seep is on the Damara folds, different seep, play and location.
