WILMINGTON, Mass., Aug. 21, 2024 /CNW/ - Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. ("Liberty" or the "Company") (TSXV: SCAN) (OTCQB: LDDFF) (FRANKFURT: LD2A), a leading technology provider of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based next generation detection solutions for protecting secure locations against prohibited weapons and other threats, is pleased to announce that the HEXWAVE™ system demonstrated exceptional results from the scoping trial for the detection of On Person Borne IED's.
The results were released from a trial held late last year, which was a collaboration between US government agencies, US Military and NATO countries to collect and analyze security detection performance data for the purpose of determining Person Borne IEDs (PBIEDs) detection capabilities of US and European partners for Force Protection. PBIED simulants included metal, clay, sugar, plastics, and wood. Simulated metallic and non-metallic shrapnel were also used. Weapons included inert pistols and an inert rifle, inert hand grenades, various knives, and backpack bombs (simulated using a pressure cooker and metallic Shrapnel).
During the trial, the next generation screening capabilities of the HEXWAVE walkthrough system was evaluated for the following:
- Continuous, contactless, high throughput flow of screening without having to pause or stop
- No need to remove benign items like cell phones, keys, and wallets
- Detection of non-metallic and metallic threats such as liquid, powder, and plastic explosives, incendiary devices, and unauthorized weapons like 3D printed ghost guns and more
- Automated detection with threat location on the resolution station for ease of clearing alarm
- Quick setup and portability of the system
The system was tested over the 2 days with approximately 400 scans with individuals using more than 25 types of concealed threats. For security reasons the actual threats used and the specific performance on those threats is considered "Classified" and that information will not be provided.
"We were impressed by the results of the system, especially given the military type of threats that were used in the testing," said Bill Frain, Liberty's CEO. "The HEXWAVE had an impressive performance of greater than 90% detection or better on 18 various simulant threats, both metallic and non-metallic. This is certainly above industry standards and gives customers the confidence of performance to meet their operational requirements."
