Diamond & Specialty Minerals Summary for April 1, 2024

2024-04-01 18:48 ET - Market Summary

by Will Purcell

Guy Bourassa's Scandium Canada Ltd. (SCD) rose one-half cent to 6.5 cents on 21,000 shares. The company has formed a strategic advisory committee, cheers Mr. Bourassa, CEO, adding that the new board contains "highly qualified and knowledgeable individuals in the field of scandium, materials and business development." The tall foreheads will "greatly assist management," he enthuses, as the company pursues a "multipronged approach of advancing the Crater Lake project" in Northern Quebec.

The company last updated its resource estimate for Crater Lake in September, listing the TG zone with 11.8 million tonnes indicated at 276 grams of scandium oxide per tonne, along with nearly 600 grams per tonne of neodymium oxide, a comparable grade of lanthanum oxide and modest amounts of other rare earth elements. Another 15.9 million tonnes were deemed inferred at similar grades. Since then, the company has been busy on a metallurgical prong for the project, optimizing potential processing methods.
