Importance of SQI's Triage Test....words from an ER Doctor

Dr. Norman Epstein was a well liked GTA ER Doctor who also happened to be a SQI Shareholder prior to his sudden passing last year.  I overlapped with him only a couple times by phone but we discussed the importance of SQI's RALI-Dx Triage Test.  He explained to me that in the ER its not the most severe cases, nor the mild cases that keep ER Doctors up at night.  He said the worst cases get rushed to ICU for immediate attention, the mild cases get quickly assessed and generally sent home.  The hardest cases to deal with are the mid grade patients that you send home, but have lingering doubt about.  When hospitals are already at or beyond capacity, there is pressure to send as many patients home to recoup as possible.  The difficulty is knowing are these patients going to improve or are they going to deteriorate.  He indicated that sometimes patients sent home end up returning to hospital 6 to 12 hours later and it is then too little too late from a treatment perspective.  This is the worst outcome for ER Doctors, where it wasn't obvious the direction the patient was headed.  He said current tests available only provide limited help, and that the predictive nature of the RALI-Dx test to provide data on what cannot otherwise be determined is significant.  Doctors want more real time data with which to support the best decisions for all.
Dr. Epstein was a social activist and I'm sure he would have been advocating for use and quick adoption of RALI-Dx, especailly at this time of great need.  It is too bad he is no longer with us - from so many perspectives.  He lived to help others and he has left a great legacy.  Sincere condolences to his family.
We need to hear from others in the know that care enough about the well being of others to share what they know and how big a difference quick adoption of RALI-Dx could make for all those stressed hospitals and doctors.

FF, kudos to you for your tireless efforts and unbridled enthusiasm to keep SQI owners informed about the vast potential that exists for this junior biotech company. As for Rali-dx, it's been a month since GofC approval and yet we have not placed or sold even one unit anywhere. I thought for sure the UHN of hospitals would be there but it is not the case. It's all very disappointing from a ...more

UHN facilities do have Sqidlite systems to run RALI-Dx tests and ER Doctors have provided positive feedback.  They have had them some time. I feel there is a moral obligation to share, but clearly few others feel the same way...

FF I agree with you - those using it need to share.   ER docs are on the news saying how bad things are. How about if someone from UHN pipes up and says something? Clive Beddoe what do you say? Has anyone seen Dr Steve Flindall on the news? He's never heard of rali-dx. WHY? attn sales team of sqi - make one more call!!
