Lags housing starts by about 1 year. This should make a lot of sense. You build a house. It takes about a year including all the ancillary services to complete and then if housing starts are down, fewer homes get built thereafter.
Housing starts peaked in April 2022 at 1805 units and by August was already down to 1508 units. Today, we are at 1420 units. By the summer of 2022, we should see a softening of construction labour and job losses by the second half of the year.
