The point is, engaging in arguments with people who lack insight or understanding is frustrating, and ultimately is futile and counterproductive. 

I have wondered at times, whether it was simply being a promoter and being so desperate to profit that they actually believe the stuff they write that leads to this type of approach, or is it a capacity to understand? Either way it's still can be  frustrating, when people draw erroneous conclusions, especially when you simply have quoted facts.

Still, trying   to reason with another who  or is unwilling to consider different perspectives is a waste of time

I certainly agree with everything you say. A person gets about as much satisfaction out of talking to him as you would talking to a brick wall. He has no comprehension of how he sounds or looks to others. If he looked in a mirror he might see that brick wall -- but that is not likely. I have gone down that rabbit hole as well I think Mark Twain said it so well. By engaging you get down in the muck and end up debating mindless topics. So you become. What they are -which is ironic. Anyhoo-I have found these boards aren't a great place to advance my thinking and discuss stocks.Its more an emotional type discussion and not based on facts  So I pop in every once and a while
