I think there is a very good of a restart.
Only 5% of heap left containment. They only use a 2% solution of cyanide. When exposed to sunlight has a very short half life and breaks down to a non toxic form quickly. So as the regulators said there is very little danger. It is not like most chemical which can hang around for years after a spill. It seems clear to me that everyone is just trying not to say the wrong thing. There is clear agreement that Victoria and the government need this to restart. Their economy needs this and the company has bills to pay. They need to get the heap leach pad operational. It won't take that long for the engineers to come up with a plan. They are already mandated to stabalize HLP and slumped material and have submitted a plan for the government approval. Look there is a lot of noise from speciai interest groups and the media over hyping this situation. I heard it mentioned today that they wished VG would give more updates on the progress they been making. You can understand legally why they are hesitant to put out too much news. The government has said more than once that VG is in charge of the site repairs and cleanup. They are removing any contamination from the water and will be increasing their capacity to treat all runoff over the next week or two. They mentioned they are pumping water through the leach pad already. Clean water is being released. This is not the disaster everyone is trying to make it out to be. Very fixable.

Thank you Routan. Every post slide photo I have seen appears to show the Gold Recovery building completely intact and not damaged by the slide, so if the HLP sumps are still operational and not damaged, they still should be able to pump the slury to the Gold Processing plant to produce gold bars, which of course will help offset costs of remediation efforts.
